In the novel <i>[[The Anax: Call of the Cursed One]]</i>, the entity known as [[The Anax]] subjects women to their worst fears. One such woman is [[Shiloh Hazeldine]], whom has arachnophobia. In her corruption to become a [[Shadowed]], the Anax takes on the form of a spider hybrid. Shiloh gets bound in webs, as a single spider crawls up her. Shrieking and throwing it off, she rattles the nest and starts to get swarmed by spiders. The spiders all bit at once, and paralyzed the woman. As more crawled over her paralyzed form, she accepted The Anax's deal; she sold her soul.

	The Shadowed are a faction of the Outer Darkness, a dimension rife with unholy, dark aberrations. The Anax leads these creatures after he takes away their free will, minds, and souls. They are mostly found in the vibratory dimension of the Outer Darkness known as the Shadowlands, the lowest frequency of existence itself. In most cases, the victims (either corporeal or incorporeal) become twisted, evil versions of their old selves, retaining whatever knowledge they once held. However, in cases of phobia, the afflicted become mockeries of their intense fears. Thus, turning their fears into a strength and perverse joy. Like all shadowed, they have sharp, glowing claws and swarm with black ink-like shadows on their bodies. However, arachnophobes have bulbous spidery abdomens and six chitin, armored legs. They can spray their prey with shadowy webbing, climb any surface, and inject a glowing poison into the victim’s body who will then become a shadowed arachnophobe as well!
